JAL JEEVAN MISSION


AIMS- to provide safe and sufficient drinking water through individuals household tap connections by 2024 to all household in rural India.

LAUNCED IN - 15 August 2019 by Narendra Modi. 

BUDGET FOR JAL JEEVAN MISSION 
  • 2.87 crore an outlay for jal jeevan mission over 5 years.
    • 2021-2022 - 50,000
    • 2020-2021- 11,000
    • 2019-2020- 10,030
  • the union budget(2021-22) for jal jeevan mission was 4.5 times of previous budget.
OBJECTIVE:-
  • Provide FHTC(functional household tap connection) to every household.
  • Prioritizing provision of FHTC in quality affected areas such as-:
    • village in drought prone and desert areas
  • Provide FHTC to :-
    • schools
    • anganwadi centres
    • GP building
    • health centres
    • wellness centres
    • community buildings
  • Monitor functionality of tap connections.
  • Jal jeevan mission looks to create a jan andolan for water.
JAL SHAKTI MINISTRY
  • A New ministry created by the government after merging :-
    • ministry of water resources.
    • river development and ganga rejuvenation 
    • ministry of drinking, water and sanitation.
  • the ministry will roll out the government's ambitious plan to provide piped water connection to every household in India by 2024.
  • jal shakti ministry will hold issues ranging from providing clean drinking water, international and inter-states water disputes.
FUND SHARING PATTERN BETWEEN CENTRE AND STATES:-
  • Himalayan and N-E states - 90:10
  • others states- 50:50
  • union territories- 100%
NOTES-: Goa is the first state in the country to provide every rural household with tap water supply followed by telangana and andaman and nicobar islands.
