Recently, in Nagaland due to intelligence failure dozen innocent civilians were died during botched operation by the Indian army.
A special unit of the Army mistakenly opened fire at a pick up van carrying coal miners from the Tiru area to their village of Oting. After this incident Nagaland chief minister Neiphiu Rio demanded the repeal of The Armed Forces(Special Power)Act. and also criticized the union government for extending the "disturbed area" tag for Nagaland every year.

- The central government few months ago increased the operation of the Armed Forces Special Powers Act in Nagaland for six more months and also declared the state as a "disturbed area"
