Javelin Throw
  • Neeraj Chopra won India's first - ever gold medal in athletics.
  • The nation's second ever individual gold since 2008.
Weightlifting 
  • Saikhom Mirabai Chanu won India's first-ever silver medal in women's weightlifting(49kg).
  • She became the first Indian Olympic medalist in sport since 2000.
Badminton
  • P.V Sindhu Won a bronze in women's badminton.
  • She became the first Indian female athlete and second Indian to win two consecutive Olympic medals for individual event.
Hockey
  • The Men's Hockey Team won the bronze medal in hockey.
  • This is the first Olympic medal in hockey since 1980.
  • The Women's Hockey Team placed fourth in Tokyo Olympic which were their best performance since its Olympic debut in 1980.
65kg Freestyle Wrestling
  • Bajrang Punia won a bronze medal in 65kg freestyle wrestling.

  • Lovlina Borgohain won a bronze medal in the women's welterweight event(69kg).
  • She became the third Indian boxer to win a medal at the Olympics. 
  • Borgohain is the first female athlete and the second boxer from Assam to represent the state in the Olympics.
57kg Freestyle Wrestling
  • Ravi Kumar Dahiya won a silver medal at the Tokyo Olympic,2020.
  • He became the second Indian wrestler to win an Olympic silver after Sushil Kumar.

  • The BCCI announced cash rewards for India medal winners at Tokyo Olympic according to medal they won.
    • Gold:- 1 Crore
    • Silver:- 50 Lakh
    • Bronze:- 25 Lakh
  • The men's hockey team which won its first Olympic medal in 41 years will get 1.25 crore.
  • The IPL franchise CSK also announced a cash rewards of 1 crore for Neeraj Chopra.
  • The CSK also announced  they will be creating a special jersey with the number 8758 as mark of respect to Neeraj Chopra.
