  • Provide technical support to counties for strengthening the health services.
  • Act as the directing and coordinating authority on international health work.
  • Promote research in the fields of health to ensure better health services and prevent from future health problems.
  • Establish and maintain alliance with organization, agency, countries etc. for funding which helps to make health sector better.
  • Conduct the World Health Survey to collect information of global health issues world wide.
 ACOMPLISHMENT  OF WHO:-
  • The eradication of small pox:-Small pox completely eradicated world world in 1980 certified by WHO.
  • The eradication of polio:-
    • Initiative to tackle small pox begun in 1988 with WHO, UNICEF, Rotary foundation, the U.S centers for disease control and prevention, the gates foundation.
    • last case of polio was recorded in Nigeria in 2016.
    • 2020 data, the polio has been eradicated in all continents except ASIA(Pakistan, Afghanistan).
  • Development of Ebola vaccine.

    • 1967 - The WHO launched small pox eradication Programme.
    • 1977- Small pox was eradicated from India with the coordination of the WHO and Indian government.

    • 1988-  The WHO launched polio eradication initiative.
    • POLIO CAMPAIGN,2012- Universal awareness of the need to vaccinate all children under five.
    • 2016 - As a result polio eradicated from the India.

BIG MISTAKES TAKEN BY THE WHO TO TACKLE COVID-19:-
  • The SARS CoV2 Originated in Wuhan.
  • the Chinese government's hide the cases resulted in the global pandemic.
  • The WHO cannot confirmed the first patience infected by the covid-19 but in other pandemic the WHO easily confirmed the first patience.
  • The WHO  refused to acknowledge the human to human transmission of the virus despite several cases already showing transmission.
  • WHO castigated countries like The USA and India who started restricting flights to and from china.
  • Taiwan also warned the WHO about human to human transmission of COVID-19 but the WHO refused it.
  • The WHO too much late to declare covid-19 a pandemic.
